Prickly Paradise

Grand Turk had the strangest array of flora and fauna, or at least it seemed like a strange combo to me. The plants ranged from cacti, as seen here, to deciduous trees, though they were always green on account of the climate, and even conifer-type shrubs. The fauna part was fairly limited, mostly birds, but there were also wild donkeys, which is bizarre to my mind.

I guess I could have also titled this picture, "Water, water everywhere, but not a drop to drink." You don't usually think of an island as a dry place, but excluding salt water, they can be mighty parched places, and thus, the cacti.
